Huize Frankendael is the last remaining country estate within the city of Amsterdam. Build in the 18th century, the house was used by people of high distinction to enjoy friendship and nature.
While the city has enclosed the country estate, the joy of pleasure still remains. House, kitchen and garden are open throughout the year for the combination of nature, gastronomy and art&culture.
Restaurant Merkelbach carries de name of the former city architect Ben Merkelbach. It is located in the right coach house of Huize Frankendael. The kitchen completely endorses the Slow Food philosophy. In the formal garden, where we have our terrace, you’ll experience nature and it’s seasons within the city.
For reservations, visit the website of restaurant Merkelbach.
Please take note you can only pay by pin or creditcard in our restaurant.
The beautiful rooms in the historic house are available for festivities, corporate meetings and other gatherings. The location is an official wedding location in Amsterdam. Restaurant Merkelbach takes care of the culinary expression of these special occasions as well, of course according to our Slow Food philosophy.
Art is exhibited throughout the year in Huize Frankendael. Together, the Frankendael Foundation and Merkelbach organize events where honest, pure and sustainable gastronomy meet visual and performative arts.
